More About Me
"Growing confidence and belonging"
More About Me work builds upon the foundations established through All About Me work and begins to gently explore the child’s life experiences and personal journey.
This approach helps children and young people understand their life story in a safe and age appropriate way, while supporting them to develop a greater understanding of significant events, relationships and transitions they may have experienced.
Where appropriate, the work may also focus on a presenting issue that is impacting the young person in their day-to-day life. Together, we can explore what is happening for them now, what may be contributing to it, and what they need to feel more understood, supported and able to move forward.

Together we will explore:
Memories
Together, we explore the young person’s story through the moments, people and experiences that have shaped their life. Creating a timeline helps bring their story together in a way that makes sense, recognising both significant challenges and positive experiences, achievements and memories along the way.
Creating a timeline of important life events
Significant People
Identifying the people who matter in their life
We explore the important people, relationships and connections that have been part of the young person’s life. This can help them recognise the people who have supported, influenced and cared for them, while building a stronger understanding of the relationships that contribute to their sense of belonging, connection and identity.
Their Voice
Creating space for their story, thoughts and hopes
Young people are supported to share their story in ways that feel safe and meaningful to them. Through conversation and creative activities, they can explore their thoughts, feelings, strengths and hopes for the future, while developing confidence in expressing who they are and what matters to them.
Understanding care experiences in an age appropriate way
Strengthening identity and belonging
More About Me work allows children to begin making connections between their experiences and who they are today whilst helping carers gain a deeper understanding of the child's journey and emotional needs.
For many children, this work acts as a bridge between basic life story work and the more in-depth therapeutic exploration offered through Therapeutic Life Story Work.

Unfolding Life Stories acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we live, work and connect. We pay our respects to Elders past and present, and recognise the continuing connection Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have to Country, culture, community and story
